The Cape Wine Auction – creating opportunities in the winelands

The eagerly-anticipated annual Cape Wine Auction takes place this weekend. The highlight of this glamorous occasion is tomorrow’s luncheon event when exclusive winelands experiences and exceptional wine collections will be on auction.Click here for the complete list of auction lots.

The La Motte Wine Estate and Francois Pienaar lot on auction, consists of:

  • A tasting of three vintages of some of the world’s top Shiraz wines.
  • A fine dining experience at Pierneef à La Motte Restaurant, hosted by old Springbok rugby captain, Francois Pienaar and La Motte CEO, Hein Koegelenberg for six people.
  • Six magnum  (1.5L) bottles of the rare flagship 2007 Hanneli R, signed by Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg.

But what is the Cape Wine Auction?

The Cape Wine Auction is the South African wine industry’s annual charity wine auction. Its main goal is to raise significant funds to be distributed to a handful of charities all focusing on education in the winelands. The proceeds of the auction will go to charities that are involved with all aspects of education from infant development, through nutritional education all the way to the provision of a leadership academy and tertiary educational endowments.

“…it is by creating beautiful Winelands experiences that we create revenue for the upliftment of our communities. This is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about wine tourism  – creating another avenue of income and more opportunities for employment as well as skills development. It is also the reason why I am so excited to be an Ambassador of the Cape Wine Auction, says La Motte CEO, Hein Koegelenberg.

Even though the event has sold out, you could still support education and upliftment in the Cape Winelands through the online bidding which has already opened.
