The wines we drink: Jean Daneel Signature Red 2008

Old, leather bound library books, fading memories of long nights in front of a roaring fire and multiple layers of velvety, cassis drenched ganache…pull the cork on a 2008 Jean Daneel Signature Red and this wine will take you places.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz, aged in small French barrels (around 40% new) for 33 months deliver spice, black pepper, blackcurrant and tobacco.  The overall palate is brooding, dark and unmistakably old school red.  Age has mellowed the intensity without detracting anything from the wine.  The wine should set you back around R250 if you can find it; then take your time to savour every drop.
