Jancis Robinson increasingly excited about the new wave of SA winemakers…

International wine personality Jancis Robinson speaks of how she is getting increasingly excited about the progress that South African winemakers are making in the world of wine.

In her recent article on David Sadie’s Grenache, she not only highlights that there is a new wave of accomplished young South African producers that are producing some noteworthy wines, but that she will soon be publishing a range of tasting notes on some of the Cape’s cutting-edge wines

David Sadie is one such individual, who this year will for the second time take part in our fourth annual Young Guns tasting. Much like the more famous producer Eben Sadie, whose surname David coincidentally shares, together with his wife Nadia, a soil scientist, he applies the principle of minimal intervention in his wines in rented cellar space for which the grapes are sourced from old vines in the Swartland.

Roland Peens’s brainchild, the Young Guns tasting aims to highlight these new producers, who are challenging the status quo of South African winemaking.

View our stock of David Sadie’s wines and look out for the future paths of our Young Guns IV participants in the upcoming event on the 9th and 10th July 2014 in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
