The Secret Masquerade in Support of Project Rhino: The Re-Cap

masked ball-1

We’re pleased to announce that our first-ever The Secret Masquerade this past Saturday, 21 June in support of Project Rhino KZN was a huge success raising over R13,000 for this amazing cause and there’s still an opportunity to raise a bit more.

The event, presented by SecretEATS and More Than Food, in collaboration with Publicity PR was held at a Secret location in Cape Town that was only revealed only on the morning of the event to confirmed ticket holders as QV54, the former Land Bank building directly across from Company Gardens.

Guests were encouraged to dress up and disguise their true self for an exclusive evening where fantasy meets reality for one-night only. Guests arrived dressed to impress sporting full-on ball gowns, tuxedos and some rather risqué attire as the only rule was that masks were mandatory. See the official event photography here.

Greeted by flame throwers upon arrival and the vibey, rock n’ roll sounds of Jeremy Douglas and The Royals, guests came in support of Project Rhino KZN looking for an incredible evening out in the Mother City. [Listen]. Our headline act for the charity ball was international recording artist GOODLUCKand they performed an exquisite 45-minute set as lead singer Jules got the crowd psyched for their last show in Cape Town before heading off on their European tour. Wrapping up the sounds for the evening was the sensational DJ Tommy Gun with his unique mix of leftfield Indie,Nu-Disco and Electro. [Listen].

With SecretEATS on board our VIP guests were treated to some tasty canapés courtesy of The Chef’s Bench which they simply couldn’t get enough. Mental note for next time – Capetonians come hungry! Over the course of the evening guests were treated to a spectacular acrobatic performance center stage just before GOODLUCK and explored the many nooks, crannies and hidden passageways that give the venue its charm.

With a portion of every ticket sold going directly to Project Rhino KZN and an exclusive silent auction featuring prizes from 15 on Orange, African Pride Crystal Towers and The Westin, we raisedover R13,000 in just one night to support anti-poaching efforts.  In addition, More Than Food is currently hosting an online silent auction in support of this amazing cause to help us break the R15,000 mark with two return trip flights on Mango Airways. Get the details.

And, of course, you can explore the full album on Facebook but here are my top 10 favourite photos from The Secret Masquerade.
