Cape Town Festival of Beer

This weekend the Southern Hemisphere’s largest festival of beer is rolling into town. This three day festival begins on Friday, 28 November, and runs onto Sunday. An annual event that only seems to be growing in gloriousness as the years go by; this year’s festival is showcasing a over 200 local and international beers. If you are like me, don’t really drink beer but find yourself having increasingly frequent conversations with friends about the craft beer they are now brewing in their kitchen. The buzz around this festival may stroke your curiosity.  The question now is, why would that curiosity be converted into a desire to buy a ticket? I talked it out with a few friends and this is what we discovered.

Reason 1: You may walk away from the festival with a fully formed concept for your very own New Years brew. Rumour has it that while SAB has managed to condense their brewing process in 24hrs, us mere mortals can brew a pretty solid offering in 5weeks.
Reason 2: We are near enough to Christmas for you to give a trip to the Festival of Beers as a gift to a person you might not be able to see when Santa makes his trip around the globe.

Reason 3: This is a summer festival that doesn’t require you to involve yourself in the logistical challenges of leaving town.
Reason 4: The festival offers guided tours. You can enjoy a beer safari that features rare brews only created for the festival. On this safari you can sample the wares of a multitude of food stalls present and ready for any and every appetite.

Reason 5: If your are in a social circle that is torn between watching the rugby in a house or going outside to take advantage of the abundance of beauty involved in a Cape Town summer; everyone wins at the Festival of Beer.
