Winery of the Week: Benguela Cove

Visit the beautiful wine estate, amidst olive groves and lavender fields, with stunning views of the ocean and distant mountains.
For the ultimate taste experience visit Benguela Cove – an award-winning estate situated at the start of South Africa’s very popular Hermanus Wine Route.  As a leading producer and wine destination, the quality of wine you can enjoy from their vineyards are of the highest standard. They benefit from the unique conditions of the estate’s location at the ocean’s edge, on the southern coast of South Africa.
Benguela Cove
The south-easterly sea breeze is chilled by the Benguela Current flowing up from Antarctica, to cool the grapes at night after the warm summer days, irrigated by above-average rainfall, for perfect viniculture.
The vineyards planted across the estate are young and have already asserted the supreme quality of the terroir with a series of awards. These exceptional conditions and the skills of the winemaker create our superb Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and other cultivars.
With their spectacular views you can sit outside in the African Sunshine looking out over our vineyards and the majestic lagoon. All of their wines can be purchased at the Tasting Room at cellar door prices.
Find out about their range of tastings at Benguela Cove Wine Estate – open seven days a week – at one of the region’s outstanding wine destinations.

Sharing the estate with the residents is the 80 hectare private wildlife reserve – Grey Rhebok, Duiker, Grysbok and other indigenous game roam freely through the protected Renosterveld Nature Reserve.
The estate benefits from major investment by the new owners in winemaking and cultivation. This is a family with a new vision for Benguela Cove: to establish the estate’s red and white cultivars over the coming years as South Africa’ premier quality wine.
