The Greensider – A Market with a Difference

The Greensider Market, located as the name suggests, in Greenside, is the latest entrant among the buzzing artisanal markets of Jozi. Similar to Sheds@1Fox, this market is open from Thursdays to Sundays.
Located on the main strip of Greenside, the market is nestled between the numerous pubs and restaurants of the area. It is much smaller in size as compared to the other markets, but has ample seating, both inside and outside. This is primarily a food market and you will find little else. Although when I went there last week, there was a small stall selling some really pretty jewellery and accessories at throwaway prices.

What is most interesting about this place is that every little stall is uniquely designed. The art on the wall, display of products, colours and the design of each stall are very different from one another. The Balkan Burger Bus, famous for their juicy un-burger like burgers, occupies the biggest and most attractive space.

Besides this, there are Greek yiros, wraps, South American quick-bites (nachos, empanadas, etc.), fish&chips, waffles, crepes and a whole lot of other goodies to keep your mouths busy. For the thirsty, there is craft beer and delicious smoothies to choose from. The only thing missing was a nice coffee place. But since the place is still a work-in-progress, I am sure someone will soon come up with that too!
