Best Bet Breakfasts in Perth – Voyage Kitchen: Part 3

The father-daughter-duo is back for the last time with Part 3 of Best Bet Breakfasts in Perth – The Trilogy. Here is our third best bet breakfast spot in Perth, Australia.
My dad, Len Henson, moved to Perth in 2006. A year later he discovered Voyage Kitchen while he was helping his wife, Carin, train for the Comrades.
“We were up early in the morning and the restaurant opens at 06h30. I forgot my wallet there after our first visit! Back then they were still operating in a very small space. Later that day I realised my wallet was gone and there it was safely kept aside at Voyage Café!” Len said during an e-mail interview.

Len continued, “When we trained for the triathlon we would biked there, leave the bikes at the restaurant and then do a 20km run down West Coast Drive alongside the sea. On the way back we would eat breakfast at Voyage. Lekker!”
His favourite breakfast is the Norma Salsa Eggs. When my sister, Wilmie, and I visited him in December 2011 he took us to Voyage Café to test that breakfast. We rode with our bikes there early in the morning. The view was spectacular and the breakfast even more so.

Voyage Kitchen has since become part of Len and Carin’s training routine, but is saved for special occasions. Because the restaurant is dog friendly, Daisy and McDougal, the two adorable Scottish Terriers usually accompany my dad for a best bet breakfast and a coffee.
The restaurant has been operating since 2004 and aims to provide rustic, imaginative, fresh food, comfortable surroundings, caring hospitality and great value. Their menu caters simple, tasty food and leans towards a Mediterranean inspired cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Even though my dad loves Sayer’s Food, Kalahari and Voyage Kitchen, his favourite breakfast in the whole world is the muesli served with seasonal fruit, berry compote, Greek yoghurt and honey at The Bistro at Just Pure in Hermanus, South Africa. According to him, as a world citizen, the best coffee can be found at The Deli in Hermanus, specially made by Hermien. Here is where he finds his true Boeretroos.
