Hands-on Harvest – the two-month festival

HANDS-ON HARVEST – THE TWO-MONTH WINE FESTIVAL
Choose your dates, decide what you want to do, and book your choices between now and the end of March. Only the cellars of the Robertson Wine Valley give visitors such a choice of when and where to learn, pick, sort grapes and taste wine while harvesting is in full swing. Not to mention vineyard tours, river cruising, harvest dinners and a host of picnic options.
Guests can visit wineries not traditionally open to the public as well as the well known ones, for a hands-on experience in small and intimate groups. Log on to www.handsonharvest.com, go to the programme and spend some time on going through this. There are so many options, on various weekdays and weekends at the participating cellars. There are once-off events and dinners, other activities are repeated. Whether you go for the day, the weekend or spend a few days in the valley, I’ts important that you book for your choices at least three days ahead with the cellar. And you need to pay in advance.  For those used to paying city restaurant and wine prices, you will be delighted with the affordability of  Robertson valley pricing. Wineries in McGregor, Ashton and Bonnievale are taking part too, and of course you can stock up with quality, reasonably prices wines to take home – the cost of your petrol will soon be covered. And there are plenty of good B&B’s waiting to host you and yours.
