Liv-ex releases its freshly-updated 1855 classification

final la feite Liv ex releases its freshly updated 1855 classification

Liv-ex – the Fine Wine Market – has once again updated the Bordeaux 1855 Classification to uncover current trends in the fine wine industry. Like the original classification, Liv-ex’s ranking is based wholly on price and only includes the major estates of the Left Bank.

All 5 First Growths remain unbeaten, joined by La Mission Haut-Brion, as of 2009. However all 6 had seen price drops on the Liv-ex trading exchange since the 2013 ranking, led by Château Lafite Rothschild with a 22% decline.

Upward movers included Haut Bailly migrating from the rank of Third Growth in 2013 to Second Growth in 2015. Malescot St. Exupéry, Grand Puy Lacoste and Domaine de Chevalier have moved up in rank order since the 2013 classification, from Fourth to Third Growth, while Château Gloria and Phélan Ségur enter the classification as Fifth Growths.

According to Liv-ex Director Justin Gibbs, many of this year’s major movers have invested heavily and continue to focus on quality.
