Tuning The Vine, Back and mixing things up

Tuning the Vine

Tuning the Vine is back with a walking tour twist

Remember last year’s Tuning the Vine festival at the Waterfront’s Lookout? If not, you missed out.  If you do remember it…how awesome was it!? Sure, there were things that could be tweaked, better organised or just slightly improved but all in all, it was one of my favourite wine shows / festivals last year by far.  It brought together more boutique farms and drove more meaningful conversations around wine than anything I’ve previously attended and it still kept the energy and vibe friendly, fun and engaging with live music, face painting, tattoos and more. Essentially, it was rad.

So, when I remembered that it happened late October last year — one of the days was actually Halloween — I reached out to the organisers and learned, it’s back…well, sort of. What’s that mean? Basically, the same organisers and team behind Tuning The Vine – The Wine Show are now launching Tuning The Vine: #InnerCityWineRoute.

Tuning the Vine 2

The first one is happening this coming Wednesday, 7 October from 5.30 pm – 9pm and tickets are available to the public here. I can’t personally tell you too much of what to expect but here’s what I’ve heard from the organisers:

“From Bree Street to Wale Street and down towards Adderley Street, the event links the hippest streets; giving on-foot winos and foodies a chance to experience a range of deliciousness from some of the hottest venues including Bocca, Youngblood, Dorrance Wine Cellar, Publik Wine Bar, Weinhaus & Biergarten, House of Machines, Tjing Tjing, The Gin Bar, the Reserve Wine Vault at the Taj, Mint and the Twankey Bar.

Unique wine experiences and tastings will be offered at each stop, featuring producers such as Klein Constantia, Beau Constantia, Hartenberg, Rivendell, Babylonstoren, Genevieve, Dorrance, Signal Hill Winery, Creation, Beaumont, Newton Johnson, Waterkloof and Villiera.”

Sounds pretty awesome, right? Well, we’ll be attending and will, of course, let you know what we think afterwards and share the future dates. But…if you’re keen to join us, we’d love to have some More Than Food readers take part in the very first #InnerCityWineRouteTour.

Tickets are R150 via Quicket or R175 on the day from either Youngblood (Bree Street) or Dear Me (Longmarket Street) and include a glass and access to tasting across all 13 venues. For more information, visit www.tuningthevine.co.za or @TuningtheVine on Twitter.
