Wine Cellar was pleased to participate in this weekend’s annual Cape Winemakers Guild Auction. Showcasing the finest and most exclusive South African wines, the auction achieved just under R 11.9 million and prices were up an average of 10% on last year. One of the highlights was undoubtedly a 6-bottle case of Kanonkop CWG Paul Sauer 2012, which is a barrel selection of the standard Paul Sauer (available at R 430) . As the country’s number 1 investment wine, it saw feverish bidding and reached a colossal R 12,200 –  the highest price ever paid for a red wine at the auction.
Wine Cellar secured a number of key wines from leading producers. These include the AA Badenhorst Graniet-Berg 2013, which set a new record of R 7,000 for a 6-bottle case of white wine.
