The entrants into this year’s Veritas, SA’s biggest wine competition, have been judged and results are imminent. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the contest, and the celebratory dinner – already sold out – taking place at the Cape Town convention centre on October 9 is offering diners a special gastronomic experience, thanks to some of our top chefs.

Meanwhile there is space for every winelover to tasting some of the winning wines and brandies at the country-wide venues this month and continuing into November.

The Cape Town tasting takes place on 20 October from 17:00-20:00 at The Lookout, V&A Waterfront. Tickets are priced at R160.00 per person.

In Johannesburg The Bill Gallagher Room, Sandton Convention Centre will be the venue  on 27 October from 17:00-20:00 (R170.00 per person).

The Durban tasting will be presented at the Function Room, Deloittes Head Office in Umhlanga on 4 November  from 17:00-20:00 (R120.00 per person).

Tickets for the Cape Town, Joburg and Durban tastings are available at Computicket from 1 October and include wine tasting, light snacks and a tasting of selected Qualité cheeses.

Port Elizabeth residents can diarise  10 November, taking place at Elizabeth Place Conference Venue, Pickering Park, Pickering Street, Newton Park in PE from 18:00-19:30. Kilzer’s Kitchen will again play host for the Knysna events on 11 November (tasting and dinner – themed Culture meets Cuisine) and 12 November (tasting and Thai canapé menu – themed My Thai, your Tie). Tickets are available at R310.00 for 11 November (starting at 19:00) and R150.00 for 12 November (starting at 18:00). The dress code is black and white.
