This week I attended the Green Monday SA launch at Truth Coffee shop in Buitenkant Street. I had no clue what Green Monday SA was all about until about a week ago. I have heard so many things about keeping the planet green before but green food? I love food so I was interested to know more.

At the launch I found out that the Green Monday initiative is an international initiative started in the US and its more than just replacing your meat with vegetables or cutting down. It’s also about improving animal welfare and human health in general.

Guests were welcomed with organic bubbly and tasty plant dishes to nibble on while learning more about Green Monday. Canapés included maki rolls with avo/tofu and soya sauce, spring rolls with baby marrow and bean sprouts in a sweet and sour coconut cream sauce. Hot bowls followed and plant based spicy chicken strips with vegetables was one of my favourite dishes. We ended the meal with organic chocolate brownies.

I did not feel like I was deprived of anything and the goodie bags had recipe books that I cannot wait to try. There was a live band for entertainment playing popular reggae songs. Everything was just all right and you can join the movement one green meal at a time.
