Cork Storms Back

It didn’t take long for cork to respond to the virulent screwcap campaign recently launched at George Jardine’s bucolic spot in the Winelands. An uberhip bistro called Chalk & Cork has opened on Cape Town’s second most fashionable street: Kloof. Although being closed at 8am when you offer a rabbit breakfast is perhaps a bit too chilled for financial success.

Still the wine list is impressive as are the happy eggs Benedict. Plus you’re unlikely to bump into the Wine WizardTM guzzling sparkling spanspek and other screwcap apologists. After all, Chalk & Screw is totally more Buitenkant. What odds am I offered on Chalk & Cork being the venue for the Amorim Christmas bash aka Joaquim’s Porra Party?
