A launch that was a lunch

A printer’s gremlin must have laid out the invitation from Morgenster yesterday for it turned out not to be a launch but rather a lunch from the brilliant Georgio Nava of 95 Keerom and Carne fame. For when I inquired as to the price of the wine I was told “Morgenster Reserve 2011 will be released 2nd half of this year. Will be priced then.”

Morgenster invitation

I can’t wait as Pierre Lurton (below), the big noise at Chateaux d’Yquem and Cheval Blanc, compared the wine to a Second Growth Bordeaux and Chateau Figeac was mentioned in this regard. I tasted his own 2014 Cheval Blanc earlier in the month and was told the price would probably be fixed around the E500 mark or R6,500 a bottle. Let’s hope that’s the 12 bottle case price of Morgenster.
