Our bi-monthly WellsFaber Sommelier Selection blind tasting is slowly but surely picking up speed. Here are some of the New Whites waiting for our Black Beauty SommeliersTM to taste blind tomorrow.

A brace of biodynamic beauties from Avondale are among the newbies as are two vintages of Tokara Directors Reserve. We’ve a new taster too: Marlvin Gwese from the Cape Grace. With a weekly column in the City Press (readership 2 000 000) this has to be the most cost effective marketing exercise in town. For the cost to producers is zero.

All wines will be available for public tasting at The Pendock @ Taj from 5-7pm for which there is again no cost. We’re also negotiating with Angelina Jolie to take up the post as visiting professor of wine at the Neil Pendock Wine AcademyTM in conjunction with University of the Trees. Far less BS than you get at UCT and we don’t fling the stuff, either. We lob it with alacrity in the general direction of those pretentious poseurs down at the Waterfront who think Simon van der Stel made the first wine in SA.
