Brexit Sigh of Relief

The jury is still out on the effects of this week’s Brexit or Bremain on SA wine exports to Blighty. At least Hein Koegelenberg is getting brilliant coverage for his Leopard’s Leap brand on CNN out of the whole issue. So while UK supermarkets still stock SA wine, it is fun to read the laundry lists of UK punters like Olly Smith who is slightly more reliable than British Monsters of Wine called Tim who sell bottle stickers as shills for SA producers, flown out to SA by WOSA, the travel agency for British barkers.

This Sunday Olly fancies the blank bottle from Pieter Walser called Sigh of Relief 2014. Its a Helderberg Cabernet Franc he calls an “outrageous South African – sheer hedonism, a macho mulberry wielding a sword of crackling cranberries.” It will set you back R540 a bottle which is surely outrageous and certain to be grounds for the purchase of another Blank Bottle bevvie: Familiemoord, a Swartland Grenache which is less than 1/3 the price.
