Woman Breaks Guinness World Record For Most Expensive Shot

IF YOU thought you were paying too much for a single shot on a night on the town, this woman has outdone us all.

Ranjeeta Dutt McGroarty, the founder and director of Trinity Natural Gas in India, spent almost AU$20,000 (18332.37) for one single shot of the world’s oldest cognac, making the purchase a new world record.

The budget-blowing 40ml purchase of Rome de Bellegarde sold in London’s Hyde Kensington bar on Wednesday night.

“Life is about trying new things and pushing boundaries,” Ms McGroarty told staff after the purchase, the bar reported.

It beat the previous record for the most expensive cognac, which sold in Hong Kong for AU$12,932.55 at the Inter Continental Hong Kong, China, on November 9 2016.

The shot of cognac came from a bottle of 1858 Cuvée Leonie.

But what’s so special about the drink?

The cognac was discovered in the cellars of Jean Fillioux and is believed to be the first blend created by the master in 1894.

The Fillioux dynasty are renowned for their high quality yields, with vineyards which lie in the heart of the Grande Champagne in the “golden triangle”.

Ms McGroarty reportedly made a speech after the purchase and began swigging the drink with small circular motions.
