Stamford Police Arrest Sleeping Man In Car Holding Hennessy Bottle

STAMFORD – A Bridgeport man was found sleeping in his car on Bedford Street on Monday morning, holding an empty bottle of Hennessy cognac, police said.
Phillip Salvatore Torres, 31, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. after officers discovered he was intoxicated. Torres’ blood-alcohol level was .19 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit of .08.
When officers discovered the car, it was still running and on the side of the road; Torres was sleeping while sitting in the car, police said. An officer woke Torres up by shaking him for several minutes until he opened his eyes.
Torres told police he was on his way to see his girlfriend and that her home was “right around the corner.”
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
