Snoop Dogg Enlists Martha Stewart To Promote ’19 Crimes’ Wine, And The Irony Is Fabulous

In a hysterically ironic social media post, Snoop Dogg posed for a photo alongside Martha Stewart to promote a wine brand that Snoop recently partnered with, called 19 Crimes. In a comedic and outwardly ironic depiction, it’s immediately apparent that they are both convicted criminals. It’s quite likely that between the two celebrities, more than 19 crimes were committed.

In most cases, this would reflect badly on the brand in question, as most corporations aim to maintain a squeaky clean image, so they tend to align themselves with celebrities that are like-minded and holistically represented. However, this is a very special circumstance and a very different type of wine.

The opening statement on the 19 Crimes website states; “We’re Guilty Of Many Crimes, Canvassing Wine To Youngsters Isn’t One Of Them. Tell Us, Friend, What Year Were You Born?”

This prompt requires users to enter their year of birth to enter.

Unconventional? Definitely… and it works! In 2017, 19 Crimes was named the Market Watch Brand of The Year when over a million bottles were sold and shelves emptied faster than they could be restocked. Their success has continued to soar.

The criminal connection between the wine, Snoop Dogg, and Martha Stewart is fabulously woven in a genius marketing campaign that is anything but subtle. In 2004, the world watched in fascination as Martha Stewart was convicted on felony charges of “conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding, and making false statements to federal investigators, and was sentenced in July 2004 to serve a five-month term in a federal correctional facility and a two-year period of supervised release ” This wasn’t her first run-in with the law, either.  The government had hammered down on Stewart in 2003 for securities fraud and obstruction of Justice.
