When Livhuwani Mmamburu met big Schalk Burger at the Standard Bank Soweto Wine Festival last night, big Schalk (these days he leaves the rugby world cup playing in France to son “little” Schalk) asked him which team he plays lock for.  Size counts when you’re making a video blog for several reasons: you can tower over the punters milling around the various stands for a shot and maintain enviable stability in cut aways to the trio of gogos in doeke, peering at proceedings with awe from the sidelines.

Filming a wine tasting, it’s best to start late, when Bacchus has had a chance to work his magic.  Video blogging last night’s Soweto Festival, we ended up with an hour of material: some outrageous, some risqué, all fascinating.  To see Johann Krige from Kanonkop take on the winesnobs, David Sonnenberg on the People’s Pinotage or Tariro Masayiti explain why Nederburg works better in Soweto than Cape Town, check out our uncorked video blog.
