Haskell Open Day 2013

by Johann Olivier

Growing up in the winelands is a blessing. Numerous Saturdays were spent not knowing what to do. Luckily the abundance of activities ensured that a boredom filled day was never on the cards. Not knowing where exactly I want to go, I used my fail-proof ‘discover new places’ method. This entailed driving down the road from my house and at every intersection I would slightly let go of my steering wheel, always in a very responsible manner… If my car tended right, I would go right and so on. Thus I made sure that I never fall into the rut of going to the same places over and over again.

On the 9th of November 2013, this practice is not to be used, as there’s only one place where you would want to be and that is on Haskell Vineyards. We will be welcoming the summer in style with our 5th annual Haskell Open Day.

Awaiting guests to the estate is a day filled with fun for the whole family. While the young-ones enjoy our kiddies zone, the wine fundies can sample the amazing wines from both the Haskell and Dombeya ranges.

For the serious wine lovers, a Master Class will be presented from 10:30 until 12:00. Rianie Strydom, lauded Haskell Cellar Master and Cape Winemakers Guild Member, will be presenting the class around this year’s theme: ‘A Grape’s Dilemma – is marriage better than singledom?’
Places for the Master Class is limited. To secure a seat, contact Marika on 021 881 3895 or marika@haskellvineyards.co.za

You can laze the day away on our tree shaded lawns, enjoy a ‘design your own’ picnic from our fine food purveyors, have lunch at The Long Table Restaurant (reservations strongly advised – 021 881 3746), indulge in the cool sounds of our live entertainment, taste our amazing wines and make sure to stock your cellar with our exclusive ‘on the day’ wine specials.
