A Whitened Winelands!

by Rianie Strydom

Now, we are supposed to be living in a fairly temperate climate in Stellenbosch, but someone forgot to tell that to the weather gods this week.

And if the picture looks cold, then be assured it was. But a nice cold stretch of weather is a good thing during the vine dormancy peiod. Over the last 40 years we have seen a gradual warming with regard to the median July temperature and so anything that offers a bit of respite to that is a good thing. Of course, no-one is suggesting that a couple of cold days is a pointer to a trend emerging, but we’ll wait and see. This is the Helderberg range in the background of the estate at Haskell/Dombeya, covered in a nice frosting of snow- it sure is pretty!
