Raise a toast on Brandy Alexander Day

Join the worldwide celebration of one of the most classic cocktails of all time – the Brandy Alexander. Wednesday, January 31 is International Brandy Alexander Day, and Distell premium brandy believes this a perfectly sound reason to raise a Brandy Alexander to toast, if nothing else, the only cocktail to have a day officially named in its honour.

This simple yet elegant concoction of fresh cream, Crème de Cacao and fine potstill brandy, dusted with freshly grated nutmeg, helped fuel high society during the roaring 1920’s and has become something of a cultural icon with numerous endorsements in songs, books, film and television.

To make this cocktail at home, you will need;

1 parts crème de cacao (alternatively use any good chocolate liqueur such as Klipdrift Black Gold),
1 parts cream,
1 part potstill brandy such as Klipdrift Gold
Ice cubes.

Add all the liquid ingredients to a cocktail shaker, fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes and shake for about 30 seconds or until the outside of the shaker is getting nicely frosted. Strain into a glass, traditionally a cocktail glass or martini glass which, ideally, you’ve been chilling in the freezer. Garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg and you’re ready to celebrate Brandy Alexander Day in style.
