Rietvallei Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Double Platinum at National Wine Challenge

Rietvallei Wine Estate is proud to announce clinching a coveted Double Platinum award in this year’s National Wine Challenge / Top 100 SA Wines hosted by buybetterwine.com – with the Rietvallei Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 being placed under the competition’s Top 100 wines. Our Rietvallei Natural Unwooded Chardonnay 2019 was also a top contender this year and won a Double Gold medal.

The Rietvallei Cabernet Sauvignon is the ideal wine to stock up on this winter. With a deep, almost black colour and a palate that shows a slight toastiness and hints of vanilla, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to rare roast beef, leg of lamb or hearty stews.

The Rietvallei Natural Chardonnay is unwooded and wild yeast-fermented. The wine is left on the lees for six months and stirred weekly. This process known as sur lie in French, provides the wine with complexity and a rich character.  Elegant and fruity, it is the ideal partner for seafood and poultry dishes.

Rietvallei Wine Estate, situated in the leading Robertson wine district, has been in the hands of the Burger family since 1864 and ranks among the oldest family-owned wine estates in South Africa.
