As we congratulate the RWV winners for their substantial Gold  haul, it is worth noting that this contest, held under the auspices of the Cape Wine Academy selects  qualified judges to  taste entries in a double-blind procedure. To avoid tasting fatigue they taste a maximum of 10 wines in a category  in a row. Judges  know neither the identity of the wines tasted nor their prices, which, the organisers point out, makes for more fair judging. . The double blind tasting was audited by Theron du Plessis Accountants.
