Sibongile Mafu presents Glass Act YouTube series for Pick and Pay

John Brown is proud to announce the release of the Pick n Pay Glass Act YouTube series. The 12-episode video series, presented by Sibongile Mafu, aims to enlighten, entertain and convert entry-level wine drinkers with a fun, light-hearted approach to wine.

Pick n Pay approached John Brown with a brief to produce a video series that would take the intimidation factor out of wine, encourage entry-level wine drinkers to explore the wine aisle and broaden the wine consumer base.

The result, Glass Act answers all the questions viewers have been too shy or embarrassed to ask, such as: How do you pour wine without spilling? What’s with the swirling, sipping and spitting? And even how to open a bottle of wine. “Our goal was to create content of value to Pick n Pay consumers,” says Tim Robinson, digital director at John Brown Media. “Something that went beyond product promotion.”

This series is presenter-driven, hence the importance of choosing an engaging and personable character. Sibongile Mafu, best known as co-presenter on the KFM Breakfast show, was an easy choice, with her quirky antics and approachable personality. “What makes this video series unique is that Sibongile is no wine fundi. She learns the basics of wine – and makes plenty hilarious mistakes – along the way. Viewers watch, laugh and learn to love wine along with her,” says John Brown Media digital editor, Emma Odendaal.
