Simonsig had the Midas touch at the 2013 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) with no less than four Gold medals from this prestigious competition in the United Kingdom.

With a history spanning four decades as South Africa’s first bottle fermented sparkling wine, Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel 2009 was one of only two Méthode Cap Classique wines to win a gold medal. Simonsig also showed its prowess as a leading red wine producer by clinching three of only 20 gold medals awarded to South African reds. Simonsig’s red wine gold medallists are the flagship Bordeaux-style blend, Tiara 2009, Merindol Syrah 2010 and Mr Borio’s Shiraz 2011.

The IWSC judges awarded a Silver Outstanding medal to the Cape Blend, Simonsig Frans Malan 2010, as well as Silver medals to a further five Simonsig wines.

With annual entries from nearly 90 countries, the International Wine & Spirit Competition is one of the most prestigious of its kind in the world. Founded in 1969, the IWSC aims to promote the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs drawing on detailed technical analysis and specialist judging panels.
