Striped Horse Launches a Pale Ale Craft Beer

The Striped Horse craft beers, produced at CBC in Paarl, have taken the South African beer-drinking market by storm since they launched with a lager and a pilsner in 2014. The pilsner has gone on to win the National Beer Trophy in 2015.

Master brewer, Wolfgang Koedel, has 25 years of experience in the industry and is fiercely committed to achieving the clarity, quality and flavour that only small-batch, slow brewed craft beer can deliver. European-trained, internationally experienced and locally-based, he is a craftsman uniquely qualified to produce premium beers.

The newly released Striped Horse pale ale, which will be available in stores from 1 July, is an easy-drinking golden ale with a fruity malt backbone and delicious hoppy finish – for a deep, eclectic, distinctive beer experience.
Says Koedel about the latest Striped Horse beer: ‘The whole CBC Brew Crew is very excited about our new horse in the stable. The Striped Horse brief was to create an easy drinking speciality ale with a beautiful balance between bitterness, fruitiness and maltiness. By using the best varieties of Yakima Valley hops, imported German malt, American pale ale yeast, our crystal clear Paarl mountain water and the creativity of our CBC Brew Crew, we hope that we have hit the taste buds of our customers and beer lovers’.

The Striped Horse pale ale will retail for around R240 for a case of 12 and is available at most liquor outlets including Spar Tops, Pick n Pay liquor, Makro and Checkers Liquor.

Big news in July

Along with the release of the pale ale comes the very exciting news of the upcoming opening of The Striped Horse – the brand’s flagship restaurant and bar – opening at a prime location on the beachfront in Muizenberg in July.
