Take a Journey Through Dombeya`s History

Dombeya, the brand, started almost by accident. When Preston Haskell purchased the estate, and the grapes growing on it, he decided to bottle some wine. Not a lot, but some Shiraz, Sauvignon, and Chardonnay from the 2003 vintage. It needed a name. Dombeya Farm was the original name of what is now known as Haskell Vineyards, so it stuck, albeit with the wines bottled under a different label to the snappy one we have now.

So although in most people’s minds 2005 was the start date, there’s a little history in reserve. However you look at it, it’s a brand starting to develop a legacy of its own. Batting well above its weight and price point from day one, Dombeya has consistently won awards and accolades that were traditionally the domain of big ticket wines. We’re proud of it, and of the way these wines are continuing to evolve, so we thought that a retrospective of Dombeya’s eight ( or ten, depending on your perspective) years of production would be a great reason to hold a winemakers dinner.

Please join the winemaking team for a journey through selected vintages of Dombeya wine, over dinner at the Long Table Restaurant, on the 3rd of May, 7pm.
