French cheeses are recognised as the world’s best, and Fromages de France is able to bring you only the best. These include:

Baraka – A horseshoe-shaped, cream-enriched cow’s milk cheese.  The name Baraka is Arabic for blessing (good luck). Its white downy rind covers a creamy texture with a mild supple taste – Bourgogne
Epoisses Berthaut – A soft cheese, hand-washed with Marc de Bourgogne. Rich in flavours, spicy and tangy, and penetrating aromas.  Recognised as one of the best French cheeses – Bourgogne

Delice Pommard

Mustard flavoured with mustard seeds. This cream-enriched cheese is made from cow’s milk and was crafted by a cheese maker in Beaune.  The curd is drained in a cloth, which gives the cheese a particular “fig-like” shape.    – Bourgogne

Camembert Marie Harel

Hand-moulded, full bodied, mushroomy and nutty when ripe, au lait cru.  – Normandie

St Maure de Torraine

The Saint Maure is made from fresh goat’s milk.  Rolled in vegetable ash with a straw through the middle, which helps to hold the log shape.  The flavour is fine and mild when young.  With proper “ripening”, the cheese loses moisture but gains flavour – Perigord

Fourme Ambert Tradition

A blue cheese with a thin rind.  It should always be stored with the cut side wrapped in foil.  The flavour is pronounced with light cellar aromas – Auvergne

Comte, St Antoine

Hard cheese. Cow’s milk obtained from pastures only found at a certain altitude.  The ripening process lasts between 14 to 16 months and takes place gradually in a cold and humid stone fortress at a altitude of about 1 000 metres.   Aromatically complex and fruity – Jura

Allée Bleue

Allée Bleue produces top-class wines which are among the best in the world on fertile land in an area with a favourable climate. Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc are all cultivated on the traditional estate.

The red wines will seduce you with aromas of juicy dark berries such as blackberries and plums, accompanied by typical spicy notes and pleasant mineral components. Their powerful tannins ensure an opulent finish. In contrast, the white wines will surprise you with their refreshing, fine acidity and their aromas of peaches and tropical fruits. The white wines are fermented in stainless-steel tanks for nine months, whilst the elegant red wines are allowed to develop in barrels made from American and French oak for a year.

Solms Delta

Solms-Delta wines are classical blends with a difference. The Solms-Wijn de Caab range, released in 2005, consists entirely of Rhône varietals. Two of the Wines in this range have components made by the ancient method of ‘desiccation’ on the vine. The Solms-Hegewisch range, released in 2006, is made entirely from desiccated grapes. These are intense, concentrated wines. The lighter Solms–Astor range, consisting of unusual Cape blends, will be released in 2008. Visitors to the Solms-Delta estate are treated to free personalised tours of the Later Stone-Age archaeological site, the exposed foundations of the 17th century homestead and various other colonial structures, several historical buildings in various stages of restoration, a magical forest of rare camphors, yellowwoods and oaks (including a 300-year-old National Champion Tree), and walks along a trout-rich river and pond, against a backdrop of the majestic Drakenstein mountains.

Lynx Wines

Enjoy a truly unique experience as you taste our passion-filled wines and are guided through the wine making process, step-by-step. Lynx Wines is a small winery using traditional equipment like open concrete fermentors and a basket press, and it is this that makes our cell tours so popular with visitors from around the world. Our passion starts with sustainable grape growing practices in the vineyards, continues in the cellar as we handcraft our wines, and ends up in the bottle. We love sharing our passion with visitors to the cellar. Our focus has been to produce premium reds, which include a Shiraz, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Merlot and our very popular Xanache (a Bordeaux-style blend). These wines continuously receive high ratings and have been awarded numerous gold and silver medals. Our second range comprises a Blanc de Noir (voted top Blanc de Noir/Rosé at the Old Mutual Wine Awards), a Rosé, and the winemaker’s own blend (gold medalist at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards).

La Bri

Since its establishment in the late 17th century, when land in the Franschhoek valley was first allocated to Huguenots, La Bri has been a source of fine wines. An original homestead and outbuildings, surrounded by approximately fifteen hectares under vines, besides a river, at the foot of the Franschhoek mountains, La Bri is a small, quiet, very beautiful place. Being there makes you want to do things better. Applying traditional & modern methods, limited volumes of superior quality wine that embody all that is unique to La Bri are produced each year. Our range includes: The Affinity Blend (Bordeaux blend), a barrel fermented Chardonnay, Shiraz-Viognier,

Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot.
