The Best Places In Paarl For Coffee Lovers

Whether you need to a nice space to crank out work like your favourite author, are on the hunt for the best latte, or just need a clutch date spot that’s as classy as it is quiet, we’ve got you covered with these coffee shops, located in the heart of Paarl.

Bean In Love

Staking their claim on the competitive Paarl Main Street, this Coffee House and Roasteria is situated in a historic building with 3 open plan levels. In addition to a full espresso bar and superfood lattes, you can enjoy pastries and a variety of breakfast and lunch options.

Let’s just say this little gem knows what they’re doing — they’re as quality-driven and independent as you can get in Paarl. With small wooden tables inside and on the outside deck, you can expect to see people having quiet conversations or typing away at any time of the day.

Kikka

Located in an old heritage Victorian building in the central part of Paarl, Kikka is the perfect spot to read the newspaper or scroll your newsfeed while enjoying your caffeine fix with a slice of cake from their extensive collection.

What’s more, this charming coffee shop with its cosy ambience doubles as a florist. Kikka brings owner Karike’s love for Proteas and all indigenous flora to life. This place really celebrates the Cape Floral Kingdom but also offer bunches and arrangements of other floral favourites such as roses and lilies. Next time you want to pick up flowers for a special someone while grabbing a cup of joe, you know where to go!

Kikka’s two other branches in Paarl aren’t half bad either. You will find the one at Laborie and Kikka Boulevard at the old jail in Paarl.

Knus Karoo Kombuis

Paarl and the Karoo might be hours apart but then came two sisters who decided to open Knus, a coffee and gift shop that incorporates the things they love most about the Karoo region. One of them is Moer Koffie, an authentic South African brew that evokes memories of “spookstories” around the campfire.

Knus, which means “cosy” has taken cuisine from the Karoo and offers it in a contemporary way. Some of the menu items include a roosterkoek stuffed with biltong and a Bobotie flavoured Karoolamspastei.

Rumour has it that the cakes are to die for. I for one can vouch for the Koeksisters!

Mountain Moon & Bistro

Located in the historical Frater Square building, just off the Main Road in Paarl, Mountain Moon & Bistro, a retail store which also offers a restaurant experience, specialises in handcrafted coffees. This up-and-coming establishment subscribes to the farm-to-cup ethos by maintaining relationships with farmers from around the world. For something different, try one of their flavoured iced-coffees.

From the stylish, industrial interior to the delicious, no-nonsense menu to the music that fills the space, Mountain Moon & Bistro hits all the senses and makes people feel both transported to another world and completely at home, all at once.
