The Only Place To Enjoy A Traditional Braai In The Cape Winelands

There is no denying that a braai sits at the heart of South African culture. It’s a must for any visitor. Of course, no braai is complete without a selection of fine local wines and a braaibroodjie.

The word ‘braai’ is actually Afrikaans, deriving from the Dutch word for roast and is primarily an occasion for friends and family to come together in celebration.

For those who are unfamiliar with a braai, the team at Middelvlei, a century-old wine farm in Stellenbosch, has taken this social event to the next level. Their resident braai expert prepares your chops, boerewors and chicken kebabs to perfection, as you sit back, relax and sample the superb Middelvlei wines on offer.

The enticing aromas of homemade potbrood and braaibroodjies give you a sneak peek of what lies ahead for your foodie experience, whilst Ben Momberg’s homemade pâté and Ouma Annie’s pumpkin fritters have placed the Middelvlei Boerebraai experience in a league of their own.

For R225 per person, your Boerebraai experience includes a starter and main course and is available seven days a week between 12pm and 3pm. A low carb and vegetarian option are also available.

For a nominal additional charge why not include another South African classic for dessert – a Malva pudding and ice cream, guaranteed to end off a perfect outing.

To ensure a truly memorable experience pre-booking is advised. For bookings or more information contact the farm on 021 883 2565, email[email protected]
