The Western Cape Is The Most Expensive Province To Buy Wine In

Stats SA revealed over the weekend that the Western Cape is indeed the province with the highest wine prices.

The most recent data showed that the average price of a 750ml bottle of red wine will set you back R88,50 in the Cape. That’s R24.12 higher than the national average of R64,38.  KwaZulu-Natal is the second most expensive province for both red and white varieties.

This is what a bottle of red wine will cost you in each province:

  1. Western Cape – R88.50
  2. KwaZulu-Natal – R87.95
  3. Gauteng – R59.98
  4. North West – R58.58
  5. Northern Cape – R57.63
  6. Mpumalanga – R53.08
  7. Eastern Cape – R52.64
  8. Limpopo – R50.77

Price of a bottle of white wine in each province:

  1. Western Cape – R70.44
  2. KwaZulu-Natal – R67.23
  3. Northern Cape – R52.92
  4. Eastern Cape – R51.44
  5. Limpopo – R51
  6. Mpumalanga – R47.99
  7. North West – R47.62
  8. Gauteng – R47.53

So if you’re a cheap date, head to Limpopo for red and Gauteng for white wine.
