The World’s Most Expensive Hot Chocolate

New York City has always been known to be expensive, so it comes as no surprise that it’s home to the world’s priciest hot chocolate.

Priced at $25 000 for a cup, the world’s most expensive hot chocolate could pay for your college tuition or pay off that car loan you’re worried about.

This opulent version of our childhood favourite can be bought at New York City’s Serendipity 3. The restaurant is known for its expensive, luxurious, and opulent recipes made with edible gold. To make matters a little more confusing, Serendipity 3’s golden hot chocolate is called the Frrrozen Haute Chocolate, meaning it’s not even hot.

This ostentatious dessert has gone into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most expensive dessert ever made.
So why in the world does this Frrrozen Haute Chocolate cost so much money?

According to the spokesman for Serendipity 3 it’s a mix of different cocoas and milk that is frozen into a slush form. Mixed in with the chocolate slush concoction is five grams 24K gold! The drink is then topped with a huge helping of whipped cream and gold, of course. The dessert is also topped with a chocolate truffle, just for an extra chocolate measure.

The dessert is served in a gold goblet with diamonds. For $25,000 one would think you should be able to take that goblet with you, but that’s not part of the deal.

“Everything is created for the order,” Mr. Calderone, the spokesman for Serendipity 3 explained. “The truffle has to be flown in from France; we order the cocoas from around the world; we have the gold flown in from Switzerland, so it takes time to put it together.”
