This past week the South African Wine Industry received yet another directive from Government, this time extending the ban on the local sale of alcohol to the 15th of February. This means that in this financial year, we will not have been able to sell our wines locally for 22 weeks.
Since safety means sustainability, we also intend keeping the Creation Tasting Room closed until the ban is lifted. Bad news therefore for both our local clients and our team – but all is not lost. At Creation every cloud has a silver lining and we take pleasure in sharing some promising vineyard and cellar news with you.
Harvest time is of course the most exciting and crucial time on a wine farm and at Creation we regard it as the culmination of a great many things coming together. These include among others, Nature’s generosity and our love for and dedication to our land.
In anticipation of the 2021 harvest, we’ve spoken to Cellarmaster JC Martin who tells us what’s happening in the cellar; to Viticulturist Gerhard Bruwer, commenting on the Art of Chardonnay vineyard; to Winemaker Gerhard Smith who talks about our Chardonnay winemaking techniques, using wild ferment.
Pinophiles can look forward to an update on our Pinot Noir in a couple of weeks. Also take note that instead of the annual Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration this year, we will be celebrating in the vineyards, in the cellar, with the culinary team and with library stock. Watch this space …
