These Are The Best South African Beer for 2018

The South African National Beer Trophy Competition 2018 results were announced at Beerhouse Longstreet Cape Town on the 29th of August 2018.

The 2018 SANBT is the largest beer tasting competition in Africa to date with 212 entries and more than 25 Judges. The panel consisted of official BJCP Judges, sommeliers, celebrity chefs and cicerone. We’re very proud to say that the SANBT attracted most of the breweries in the industry.

The Judges were extremely overjoyed with the quality of the beers entered this year, this lead to the pass rate being pushed up to 39/50 to be awarded a silver medal. It shows the dramatic improvement of beers in SA creating more enjoyment for the consumer after all the SANBT is a purchasing guideline for beer lovers.

It was exciting to see a multitude of styles, from market orientated light beers to unusual, almost geeky speciality beers. The SANBT is a competition with diversity, where the big global players can compete with the Nano scale breweries on equal grounds.
