Coffee-spiked cocktails have come a long way since classics like the whiskey-laced Irish Coffee (1940s/‘50s), the White Russian (1960s, but later popularized by the film The Big Lebowski) and the Espresso Martini (1980s/’90s) entered the lexicon.
Baristas and bartenders have been hard at work creating the next wave of unforgettable coffee cocktails. The result is a cornucopia of coffee drinks spanning every major spirit category.
One of the best coffee cocktail ingredients on the planet still remains Tia Maria. A sweet liqueur with a strong coffee character and complex aromatic structure, there are three significant elements that characterise its flavour: Tia Maria coffee provides the distinctive roasted, full-bodied rich taste.
When you need a little extra motivation, mixing coffee and alcohol is the best way to go. This cocktail will satiate your craving for both alcohol and coffee in a single drink.
