“The world is such a small place!”

 

A toast to the success of Perfect Wines of South Africa .

 

On a recent trip to America, I was once again struck by what a vast country it is.

 

Wine Spectator yesterday reported about a vessel sinking with a few containers of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc aboard and commented tongue-in-cheek on how the Sauvignon Blanc with screwcap closures would mature underwater, given the latest tad of cellaring wines under the sea.

 

Last week I had a look at successful brands, logos and slogans and now I would like to bring that closer to home – to the wine world.

 

Last week I read an interesting article Euro wine trade to China faces curbs on wine consumption and purchasing trends in China.

 

The City of Cape Town’s new liquor legislation that came into effect on 1 April, regulates that no-one may keep more than 150 litres of wine in their home without a liquor licence. That is a mere 200 bottles.

 

We just returned from our Easter holiday along South Africa’s Garden Route and once again I was reminded of what a special country we live in.

 

My late father in law was an inspirational man and I have learned a lot from him. Internationally regarded as a businessman and industrialist, he was also very passionate about conservation.
