Wine Bargains Worth Seeking Out

Discounts aren’t always what they seem but there are ways to buy good wine on a budget. Down the aisle of your local Ultra Liquors, in a long row, stands a army of wine, bottle after bottle, shoulder to shoulder. Pretty daunting, yes, but you can select a bargain, if you know how to decode the aisle.

Here’s advice to make the wine aisle smaller and select the perfect bargain wine:

  1. If a company makes really good expensive wine, chances are their inexpensive wine is going to be good, too.
  2. Expand your varietal tastes. If you’re not looking for chardonnay if you’re not looking for cabernet sauvignon, if you’re not looking for merlot, you have a better chance of finding something interesting.
  3. Eliminate the larger bottles, the boxed wines and the stuff you use to drink at collage. Sure, some fine wines come in big bottles, but most of these are mass-produced jug wines that’s not necessarily of the best quality.
  4. Look closely at vintages. As you know, we don’t care much about whether one year was “better” than another. But most wines in supermarkets are for immediate enjoyment. You want them young and fresh, from the most recent vintage available.

You will find some of the best bargains on wine in the Ultra Liquors Secret Cellar and Table Bay range. Estate selected wines at bargain prices!
