Wine in a beer can

It seems everyone knows about Idaho’s already flourishing craft beer scene, something that really took off when breweries started canning their beer.

Now, a local winery is following suit.

“So we are putting wine into a beer can,” said Jed Glavin, owner of Garden City’s Split Rail Winery.

On Wednesday, the crew was seen inside the Sawtooth Winery facility in Nampa trying to kick start their assembly line into high gear.

As Glavin explains, it’s a first of its kind in Idaho.

“No one else in the United States, or very few, have kind of approached it,” he said.

Split Rail is one of the smaller wineries in Idaho, producing only about 800 cases of wine a year, but for being so tiny they are on the forefront of something big.
