Winners Of The Beer Label Design Awards Announced

Results of the fifth annual Wine Label Design Awards and the second annual Beer Label Design Awards proudly sponsored by self-adhesive label supplier Rotolabel, with Synchron and UPM Raflatac, in a secondary capacity, were announced on 13 March 2019 at Hazendal in Stellenbosch.

The competition seeks to reward the best design and packaging for bottled wine | beer made in South Africa and judging criteria include originality of concept, execution, shelf appeal and effectiveness as a piece of communication.

A total of 83 wine entries were received, 30 of these receiving medals. The Grand Prix went to The Wine Thief series of wines while The People’s Choice Award, determined by online public voting, went to Black Elephant Vintners & Co. The Honey Thief. The top awarded wine label winners will be showcased at the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show which occurs on various dates throughout the country – see Wineshow.co.za for the programme.

A total of 31 beer entries were received, 15 of these receiving awards. Gold went to Hoghouse Brewing Co. Haybale Saison and the Flatrock series of beers while The People’s Choice Award, determined by online public voting, went to Karoo Craft Breweries series.
