In a boost for Distell’s reputation as a producer of world-class brandies, the popular Klipdrift Premium has been named as 2016’s World’s Best Brandy at the World Brandy Awards.
The World Brandy Awards panel pronounced Klipdrift Premium as having “aromas of milk chocolate, sponge cake and caramel”, “gentle woodiness” and “a sweet, fruity finish”.
“The award is confirmation that blended brandies are improving in quality and is proof that there is indeed gold in every drop of Klipdrift,” said Klipdrift Marketing Manager Genius Mnywabe.
The latest award follows a string of international accolades that the company has won in recent months. Late last year, Distell won the International Wine
by Bramptonwines & Spirit Competition’s (IWSC) Distiller of the Year award; the IWSC Best Worldwide Brandy trophy for the Van Ryn’s 12 Year Old potstill produced according to the traditional technique made famous in Cognac, as well as a cache of gold medals for brandies in the company’s Klipdrift, Richelieu and Oude Meester ranges. Distell also won Brandy Producer of the Year at the 2015 New York International Spirits Competition, last November.
