Distell has a single wine: Two Oceans as does KWV, although Ultra Liquor insiders may beg to differ. Boutique producers are in with two: First Sighting and Tierhoek while family wineries also have two: Jordan and Van Loveren. There is a single supermarket buyer’s own brand Secret Cellar and er… that’s it.

There is an even split between terroir wines and multi-regional blends and the prices of the top dozen range from R30 to R82 which is less than a fiver in the UK. Confirming that SA is surely one of the best value producers in the world.
