Recently we received a special delivery request from a student named Rollie Thayer in America. After enjoying visits to Steenberg in the summer months, he wanted wine delivered as a surprise birthday gift. His explanation for the delivery (and the note accompanying it) revealed a warm and heartfelt story which illustrates the power of wine in bringing people together. Below is the story, told in his own words, of how he met a South African girl who subsequently introduced him to Steenberg:

“I met her in a class at the University of Cape Town back in January of this year. I came to South Africa as part of a small exchange program based in the environmental sciences: I am an environmental economics major; she is an environmental science major. As part of the program, I conducted research for six months while taking a couple classes at UCT.
