South Africa at Decanter Awards

Last night Decanter announced their yearly Decanter Awards. It was an Oscar like affair with tickets apparently costing up to R2000. The event was however not without surprises.

Ridgeview Wine Estate (Sussex, England, United Kingdom) walked away with best champaign over £10 for their Grosvenor Blanc de Blancs 2006 and Carmel Winery from Israel took the Red Rhone Varietals over £10 award for their Single Vineyard Shiraz 2006.

South Africa came up with two awards:
Cape Point Vineyards Isliedh 2008 for best White Blends over £10 and De Heuvel in the Swartland for best White Single Varietal Over £10  for their Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2009. Congratulations to all!
