Patriotic Brits have started a campaign for Prince William and Kate Middleton to drink sparkling English wine at next month’s Royal Wedding.

The wedding will be 2011’s biggest party with hundreds of thousands of jubilant royalists descending on London in celebration.

But the happy couple are expected to drink French champagne at the reception on April 29 when they could be drinking Britain’s finest sparkling wine.

As a result, more than 600 people have joined the English Sparkling Wine not French Champagne Campaign on Facebook – and the group’s growing by the day.

Johan Hallvig, from drinks industry employment website ChinChinJobs.com, said: The English wine industry is currently thriving and improvement in quality and investment in modern equipment over the last years have really paid dividends.
