Grab a slice, pour yourself a glass of OBIKWA and celebrate Sauvignon Blanc

With only 365 days in the year, not all grapes can be equally honoured, but the major international varieties are beginning to fill up the calendar.

23 January marks Sauvignon Blanc Day on the Grape Day Calender. Sauvignon Blanc is so many people’s favourite summertime drink, that there are more than enough wines in this category to pick and choose from. One brand however, keeps sticking its neck out when it comes to value and affordability. Retailing at a mere R28 a bottle, OBIKWA Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect companion for a laid back dinner in front of the TV.

Pairing Pizza with Sauvignon Blanc

To celebrate this renowned grape and its origin, OBIKWA cellarmaster, Michael Bucholz recommends serving his easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc with a cheese drenched pizza.

Of cause, when it comes to pairing pizza with Sauvignon Blanc, the style of the wine is key. A Sauvignon Blanc in which the fruit and herbal elements are in balance – like this popular and widely available Sauvignon Blanc from OBIKWA – works best.

While pizzas with most toppings pair well with OBIKWA Sauvignon Blanc, a few are truly inspired. A simple caprese pizza with roasted tomato, basil and soft mozzarella cheese is heavenly with this wine, as is a pineapple and ham-topped Hawaiian pizza. A veggie pizza likewise is spectacular and one topped with goat cheese is an experience to savour!

Wine and all its varietals is a journey worth celebrating, so go on and stick your neck out with OBIKWA and a slice of pizza.
