Backsberg Estate has released its Premium Range Merlot 2015.

The grapes underwent a long skin fermentation with lots of aeration, followed by maturation for 12 – 18 months in French oak. This wine’s aging potential is 10 years and it has a mid-palate of sweet raspberry and red plum, complemented by chocolate flavours. The wine is beautifully smooth with fine, mouth-filling tannins and we definitely think the vintage should be enjoyed in front of a roaring fire whilst eating a hearty stew in the upcoming winter months.
